I’d liked to call this post “A Canadian girl’s how to wear red, white and blue for the 4th of July” but I thought that might be a little too long lol. I just want to put the disclaimer out there that I’m not American but happily celebrate the 4th of July for my American husband. So when Sarah asked me to write a post on wearing red, white and blue for the 4th I was stumped. Which is weird cause usually when it comes to putting together an outfit for an occasion, I’m pretty on point * the sound of tooting my own horn playing here * lol.
Off I went to my local mall looking for pieces that would inspire a very “Americana” outfit. I looked at navy blue skirts, graphic tees with American flags on them, and all kinds of red accessories. Very cute separates but nothing that screamed a good 4th of July outfit to me.
Here’s where my “how to wear red, white and blue for the 4th of July” comes in: If you aren’t happy with what you’re looking at in the store, don’t force an outfit. It’s like forcing the wrong Lego pieces just to finish your really cool Lego house. Walk away and look else where.
That’s exactly what I did and on my way out of Macy’s (the last store before heading to my car) I found this totes adorable “Americana” dress.
The dress had everything I was looking for in an independence day outfit and all for the smiley face price of $22.00! * Virtual high fives all around *
Red. Check! White. Double check, white stars! Blue, the denim is blue! Cute level, on point!
I hope this Canadian girl’s independence day “how to” and outfit inspires you to rock your own red, white and blue style!
Have a happy, fun, safe July 4th and long weekend. Don’t forget the sunscreen!
